1900FP Multi-Monitor Review Nview
For those of
you who do not know what Nview is. It is the "cool
features" of the detonator drivers. This section also handles dual
displays. You can have it set up so that you have two displays,
although the GF4 4200, 4400, 4600, 4800, etc have plugs for three
devices--DVI, VGA, composite. You can have it set up to have just
one monitor working (but that would be silly if you own two), or you can
have the monitors display the same thing (which is called Clone), or you
can have it display widescreen horizontally or vertically. I
usually always use widescreen horizontally, but sometimes I'll use clone
for gaming or if I have the LCD pointing a different way to display to
someone else.
The 1900FP in
Action!
So what
exactly can you do with two screens? Here are a few
examples. Mind you, they were taken on my digicam and are not the
best quality, but you can still get an idea of what it looks like and
what you can do. Also do note that the first two are straight from
my digicam, the two on the right were encoded in DiVX 5.0.3. Also
make sure you don't blow your eardrums out, some of the vids are loud!
The first video is just some pretty effects and some music. The
second is a clip from Ronin which shows a pretty intense gun
battle. The third video is the lobby scene from The Matrix and you
can get a sense of just how awesome it looks. The last video is of
me playing a song in Stepmania (which is a simulator of Dance Dance
Revolution for the comptuer). The quality is pretty low on the
last one as it's a long video and I wanted to get it as small as
possible.

Dual
Display Advantages
Ah dual
displays... the wonderful things you can do with multiple monitors are
just endless I tell you. My main reason for purchasing these LCDs
was that I wanted a Plasma display @ 1/4th the cost. Widescreen
DVDs are just absolutely spectacular as you can see from the above
video. In order to make it look so nice though, you have to use
NVDVD. I have not found any DVD programs that would allow you to
have video in both monitors until NVDVD 2.27 came along! Now
getting full widescreen is simple! After you full screen it, you
then just click and drag the DVD video area and it will zoom in filling
up the entire screen!
Besides DVDs, dual setups are great for graphical work, coding, working
on html, chatting in one window and watching a DVD in the other, or
whatever. I mean you can just do so much more with two
monitors! I highly recommend giving it a shot! Next
