Dell 1900FP Multi-Monitor Review

Problems

I did run into a few problems with these LCDs.  One is the fuzzy font at certain refresh rates.  If you leave it at 60hz though like Dell tells you do you won't have any problems hehe.  Another problem is that I wish these things could rotate 90 degrees.  If you disconnected it from the stand and turned it 90 degrees, and then you got a program that could turn the screen 90 degrees that would rock.  But you'd have to unscrew it each time.  Now, Nview does allow you to rotate your screen 90 degrees, but only ONE screen.  Bummer :(  The next problem I know alot are going to frown upon and that is ghosting.  Yes there is some ghosting on this LCD.  It seems that when something black moves over something grey, you get a streak.  I notice this alot in counter strike as the walls are often grey.  Do not let this single flaw deter you from buying one of these LCDs though.  They are great for gaming.  C&C Generals looks amazing, DVDs look amazing (and I didn't notice really any blur on DVDs) and graphics, 2D apps, etc are great.  Small text is also very legible.

So, if you're playing a colorful game, these LCDs are wonderful.  And also dark games ARE playable.  It's just like I said, dark colors like a black silhouette going over a grey background which will give you ghosting.  If you're looking for a super duper gaming LCD I recommend the 1800FP. ;)

Conclusion

As you can tell, I really liked these LCDs.  I believe they'll last me for quite a while.  The only thing that I would want to upgrade to right now is Flat CRT and that technology seems quite a distance away.  As I said in the intro, these puppies are gonna cost you around $750 or so depending on the deal of the week @ Dell but I feel it is money well spent!  I hope you all enjoyed the review.

If you noticed I didn't get technical about all the timings and malarky because I wanted to tell you how my experience was.  What the actual product is like.  And as always, check back on Maximum OC for more LCD reviews in the future :)
